“You’re too young to wear makeup…”
This is a topic that can sometimes be a source of debate… But then, what is the ideal age to wear makeup?
While the number itself can vary from one person to another, the period when interest in makeup arises is often the same: around puberty .
And this is normal because with the changes (physical and hormonal) that we undergo at this age, we often develop a new self-awareness.
We begin to give more importance to our image.
In this article, we give you the best tips for discovering (or helping others discover) makeup gently, and help you maintain a healthy relationship with yourself and your image, no matter your age.
1 – Makeup and psychology:
As explained above, interest in makeup often comes from an awareness of one’s personal image.
While it is an exceptional asset for improving self-confidence, we must be careful not to base our self-esteem on it and develop a dependency.
Young people, in particular, who are very exposed to sometimes exaggerated beauty standards, must be made aware of natural beauty.
2 – Adapt your makeup to your age:
For big events, for example, you can put lip gloss on a 10-year-old girl, if she asks for it. Stick to soft, pink colors.
The idea is not to make her “more grown-up,” but rather to introduce her to taking more care of her appearance when the occasion calls for it.
As a teenager, around 16, you can start to apply eye makeup. It’s a good exercise to discover your tastes and style as well.
On the other hand, we do not recommend wearing makeup before at least the age of 22, or to limit its use as much as possible. If you have acne problems, treatment is more strongly recommended, especially to avoid scarring in the long term.
If you’re new to makeup as an adult, you can start with basic everyday looks (e.g. mascara + lipstick) and build your skills as you go. We have a 100% online course , suitable for beginners, that will be a great help here .
3 – A healthy relationship with makeup:
Makeup can truly be a friend that accompanies you through the big moments of your life, provided you find the right balance.
- Avoid wearing makeup every day:
Excessive use of makeup can cause skin problems and skin aging. Let your skin breathe. - Skincare is mandatory:
It is a priority, before makeup. The more you take care of your skin, the less likely makeup is to become an addiction. It then becomes a pleasure, a desire. - Use products that are right for your skin type:
Whether for skincare or makeup, it is important to invest in the right products. - Cultivate a positive image:
Self-confidence is learned… It is necessary to develop your self-esteem and not just focus on physical appearance. Small daily actions can help you improve your self-image.
At ANAIVI, makeup is a passion. A passion that we try to share with as many people as possible through our classes and services.
We hope that this article will help you take your first steps in this wonderful world, full of colors and glitter.
